I got my new Pentax smc P-DA 50-200mm F4-5.6 ED lens today. Just in time for our trip to Greece on Thursday.

I had ordered the Sigma 70-300mm APO lens, but it was way to heavy and huge. This one is much better for me. Only slightly bigger than the kits lens, it's complements it perfectly.

Monatiquot Rapids

Located just downstream of the Hollingsworth Dam, these rapids are in an isolated part of Braintree. Surrounded on all sides by development, it's a small bit of wilderness in a large suburb of Boston.

Hollingsworth Dam spillway

This spillway is located under the old Armstrong Flooring factory in Braintree, Ma. The mill pond formed by this dam is known as Hollingsworth Pond or Upper Mill Pond depending on the source.

There have been various industrial facilities at this site since the 1700's. The current building has been abandoned since 1996 when Armstrong closed this factory. Part of the structure is occupied by a gym and furniture company.

The pond is formed by the Monatiquat River that leads to the Fore River.

Houghton's Pond is a kettle pond in the Blue Hills. Formerly owned by the Houghton family, it's a popular swimming area in the summertime.

This is from Houghton's Pond. I had just gotten my new K100D Super and took it out for a quick jaunt to get a feel for it. Sometimes the best shots come when you are still figuring out how the gear works, and your eye can really take over.

A friend of mine had an accident late last night. This morning after getting out of the hospital, we went to get some things out of the car. He snagged this off the front of the hood.

I went to the Palouse Falls with my dad when I was visiting back in Oct. It's a pretty impressive waterfall with a 200 foot drop.

Pond Meadow Park Dam

This dam is located at the northern end of Pond Meadow in Braintree. It keeps the level of the pond at a steady level and regulates the stream that forms from the spillover.

I saw this last week when I was coming home from work. It was a race to the parking lot of the grocery store to get a couple shots before the sun went down too far.

By the time I came out of the store 15 minutes later, all the light had gone, and it was nearly dark.
