Purgatory Chasm

In Newport RI, there is a geological crack in the cliffs of Sachuest Bay. It's a crack that is only about 10 feet wide at the base, but about 40 feet deep.

A fellow camera club member went down with her tripod to get some shots. I went down there, but not as far as she went. That section of the trail isn't far from the edge.

Blithewold Mansion

On Sunday, I went with 13 other members of the South Shore Camera Club to Blithewold Mansion in Bristol, RI. It's a turn of the (20th) century mansion formerly owned by a wealthy family.

The house was nice, though they don't allow photography inside the house for 'safety reasons', whatever that means. Several of us snapped off pictures before the staff informed us of the policy. The furnishings were antiques when the family bought them over 100 years ago.

We went down for the daffodils, and there was a garden just for them.

Eliot Tower at the top of Great Blue Hill

I went the other morning to the top of Great Blue Hill to Eliot Tower. It has commanding views of most of the area.

Vintage cameras

I'm working on selling a bunch of old cameras for a friend. This is the second batch.

I tried a three flash setup for these, one in a shoot through umbrella to the right, one over my left shoulder, and one to the left behind a flag for the background.

New England Aquarium

I went to the New England Aquarium yesterday with a couple fellow Flickrites. It's a neat place to wander through, though it's very dark, and wouldn't you know that nothing sits still for a camera.

Steam

I took some shots of steam coming off a spoon while I was cooking lunch today. I've wanted to take shots like this for a while.

Nantasket Beach, Hull Ma

Part 2 of my visit to Hull with a friend. Nantasket Beach is very packed during the summer, but even in the off-season, there were plenty of locals walking the boardwalk.

This brave soul was surfing all alone in the cold water of the Atlantic Ocean.
