This river is heavily polluted with chemicals and trash. This spot is directly behind the Shaw's supermarket in Braintree, so seeing the shopping cart here isn't too much of a surprise, though still disheartening to see.

This was taken overhead with the camera mounted on the end of a pole. The mount is a Yankee-engineered setup that screws onto a standard painter's pole.

Monatiquot River

A couple people from the Fore River Watershed Association were hosting the "Run of the Herring" day in Braintree on the Monatiquot River. The rocks here are too tall for the spawning herring to jump over, so the MWRA is looking into installing a fish ladder here, and slightly upstream at the dam under the old Armstrong plant.

The river is bridged by a commuter rail line that runs overhead.
