A couple people from the Fore River Watershed Association were hosting the "Run of the Herring" day in Braintree on the Monatiquot River. The rocks here are too tall for the spawning herring to jump over, so the MWRA is looking into installing a fish ladder here, and slightly upstream at the dam under the old Armstrong plant.
The river is bridged by a commuter rail line that runs overhead.
