Moody Street Dam, Waltham Ma

Moody Street Dam, Waltham

The Northeast US had several days of rainfall from a Nor'easter that was stalled over the area. The Moody Street Bridge in Waltham, Ma, filled to the brim and hit a 70 year high level, and was at risk of breaching. This was taken right after the water level peaked, and it will go down to normal levels over the next week or two.

Through the IR glass

I tried out my 50mm f/2 lens with my IR filter last week. Aside from confirming that the lens seems to work fine without an obvious hotspot, I had a bit of fun with this shot.

It's like looking into another world hidden in plain sight.

Abandoned Armstrong Factory

Abandoned Armstrong Factory, originally uploaded by alohadave.

This truck chassis and other assorted debris are scattered behind the old Armstrong flooring plant in Braintree.

The property seems to be under renovations to convert the building to mixed retail and residential by FX Messina. It's an awkward lot as it's hemmed in by an active commuter rail line, the Monatiquot River, and the mill pond that is formed by the dam under the building.
